1Xtra Live announces Wembley date

BBC RADIO 1Xtra has today announced that the station’s flagship live music event, 1Xtra Live, is back and will bring the hottest line-up in Black music to London’s OVO Arena Wembley on October 15.

The one-night special event has built a reputation over the years for bringing huge global artists and the best UK acts together on one stage with individuals like: Kendrick Lamar, Stormzy, Alicia Keys, Wizkid, Kano, Travis Scott, Jorja Smith, Pusha T and Ella Mai all having previously performed.

In the year BBC 1Xtra celebrates its 20th Birthday, the network continues to play an integral role in amplifying Black music and culture, bringing this event to life for the 13th time.

STAR ATTRACTION: Kendrick Lamar

The news of 1Xtra Live’s return was announced this morning on BBC 1Xtra’s Breakfast show with Nadia Jae. Further information about 1Xtra Live 2022, including the full line-up and ticketing information will be announced in the coming months.

Head of BBC Radio 1Xtra, Faron McKenzie, said: “With BBC 1Xtra turning 20 this year, this 1Xtra Live is going to go all the way off! We’re bringing new and emerging talent together with the hottest UK artists and best international acts for the biggest Birthday bash of the year!

“Having been away since 2019, there are new artists and genres which our audience have never seen perform at this iconic event before.

“The scale and growth of the scene in the past three years together with the energy and excitement from our audience is going to make this the best 1Xtra Live we’ve ever seen”.

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Breakfast Show Host, Nadia Jae, said: “1Xtra Live is an unmissable event! It’s where we come together as a family to celebrate the culture, the artists, the genres and the music that we spend all year supporting on the network.

“To bring 1Xtra Live back after three years is so exciting and for it to be hosted in my hometown…. I can’t wait.”
