OPRAH WINFREY broke down in tears as Whitney Houston' sister-in-law described the moment she discovered the superstar's dead body.
The veteran TV host found herself overcome with emotion during in a hour-long special on her channel the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), as Patricia Houston recounted the heartbreaking moment when she realised Whitney had passed away.
Whitney, 48, was found dead in the bathtaub of her fourth-floor hotel room in the Beverly Hills Hotel on the eve of the Grammy Awards, on Febuary 11.
Oprah apologised for crying while Patricia explained that she had been returning from running an errand when she heard 'screaming' coming from the singer's room.
Patricia said: "I headed down the hallway to her room and I heard screams and I saw the hairstylist (Mary) drop to her knees and I kept walking very slowly a woman opened her door."
"I saw the makeup artist drop to her knees and I knew something was wrong I was just numb I walked I told her to dial 911."
She continued: "When I got into the room I saw Ray (security guard) trying to revive her to the point of exhaustion. I said 'Ray'. He said 'I tried' and he was so out of breath. I felt so badly for him."
Patricia also claimed that Whitney 'had a peaceful look on her face' when she found her.
Last week Whitney's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, praised Oprah for 'looking out' for her mother while she was alive.
