DAVID LAMMY has welcomed his Labour colleague Kate Osamor to parliament following her victory in Edmonton earlier this morning.
The Tottenham MP who retained his seat with an increased majority said: "It's fantastic.
"Kate is really a wonderful daughter of the constituency of Tottenham. I've known her for fifteen years or more. She is going to be a fantastic member of parliament for Edmonton.
"I supported her in her quest for that constituency which was wonderfully served by Andy Love but I think in selecting Kate the Labour Party made the right decision and she will represent that seat very very ably over the coming years. I look forward to working very closely with her."
In her victory speech, Osamor vowed to fight for the NHS.
She said: "Tonight the people of Edmonton have given a clear message to David Cameron: keep your hands off our NHS. They have rejected the Tory Government that is only standing up for the privileged few."
Osamor continued: "I have dedicated 15 years of my life in the NHS and I will be proud to dedicate my times as and Mp with the same values. We need an NHS that is free at the point of use, GPs that are available when we need them. Private money to support but not to undermine... the people of Edmonton have voted not only for me but to save the NHS. I thank you."
