A 10-YEAR-OLD schoolboy kidnapped from his home was released unharmed after defiantly singing gospel music throughout his imprisonment.

Willie Myrick was lured by his kidnapper to a waiting car with the offer of money before being driven away from the scene in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 31.

"He was cursing at me telling me to shut up and didn't want to hear a word from me," Myrick, who was nine at the time of the incident, told WSB-TV. "He said if I told anyone, he would hurt me, like in a bad way."

However despite such threats, Myrick - an avid lover of gospel music - repeatedly sang Every Praise by Grammy award-winning artist Hezekiah Walker during the three-hour journey.

The song includes the verse: “Every praise is to our God. Every word of worship with one accord. Every praise every praise is to our God. Sing hallelujah to our God. Glory hallelujah is due our God. Every praise every praise is to our God.”

The kidnapper grew irritated by Myrick’s continuous praise and eventually “threw” him out of the car.

"He opened the door and threw me out," the 10-year-old said. "He told me not to tell anyone."

When the testimony of Myrick's survival got out, his church decided to celebrate his return on his 10th birthday. Walker, who heard about the incident, flew from New York to Atlanta to celebrate with the child in the church's crowded sanctuary.

Though Myrick has given a description of the kidnapper to police, he is still at large. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the suspect to come forward.
