MANCHESTER CITY pipped Liverpool to the Premier League title after a rollercoaster of emotions at Anfield, reports the Voice of Sport.

With everything coming down to the final game of the season, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool needed a win against stubborn Wolves and also needed a win or draw by Aston Villa against City. Liverpool did their part with a 3-1 win but Villa could not do the unthinkable despite heroics at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool had already won the FA Cup and Carabao cups, however the push for an unprecedented quadruple came to a brave end as Pep Guardiola’s City came from two-nil down to score three goals in just five crazy minutes five minutes to clinch their sixth Premier League title.

Liverpool looked nervous in the first 25 minutes and were dealt an early blow as a Wolves counter attack saw a Raul Jimenez low swung cross find Pedro Nero’s left foot which saw the ball shoot past Alisson Becker on seven minutes

Liverpool continued their nervous start with Wolves having great success splitting the Liverpool defence with long-ball counter attacks, which nearly paid dividends when Leander Dendoncker nearly scored a second but missed from six yards out.

Midway through the first half Liverpool equalised when Thiago’s beautiful back heel found Sadio Mane who slotted home to make it 1-0 on 24minutes and put the title chase back on track.

The Anfield faithful came alive on 38 minutes when news came in that Villa had scored at the Etihad Stadium, to keep the dream alive and give the title race its final twists and turns.

At half time City’s goal difference was the only thing stopping Liverpool from potentially winning the league at this stage.

Liverpool came out the second half hungry for the second goal and when the news that ex Liverpool forward Phillipe Coutinho had scored a second against City, Anfield became a cacophony of sound,

With City trailing for much of their match, it looked like the Reds had a golden opportunity to snatch the title. On 84 minutes, Mo Salah scored with a left-footed shot from very close range to the bottom left corner. The assist came from an unlikely source, defender Joel Matip.

Left-back Andrew Robertson made it three goals for the hosts but City were performing their own miracles.
