Opportunity knocks for West Midlands food traders to be part of Birmingham 2022

Event organisers are encouraging local food traders to apply to provide catering at the seven neighbourhood festival sites which will be held during the Commonwealth Games

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Midlands based food vendors who offer a range of cuisine are being encouraged to apply by May 23

BIRMINGHAM 2022 is encouraging local food traders to apply to provide catering at the seven neighbourhood festival sites which will be held during the Commonwealth Games.

The sites which are located across the city provide an opportunity for local people to engage with the Games. They will bring together sport and culture and give local people a chance to gather and celebrate the Commonwealth Games with other people from their local community.

The sporting action from the Games will be broadcast on a large screen and a programme of live performances and interactive workshops will be on offer, plus now the organisers of each festival site are on the lookout for vendors to be a part of the local celebrations by offering food and drink to those attending.

Vendors who apply must offer a diverse range of food over the two days that each site is operational. For example, this could include halal dishes, plus a selection of savoury and dessert options that offer flavours from across the Commonwealth.

Companies that apply need to have a four-star food hygiene rating as a minimum and pricing should be appropriate for a community event.

Diandra McCalla, Lead Producer for Neighbourhood Festival Sites said: “This is a great opportunity for local companies to be part of the festival sites that we are staging in communities across Birmingham. These sites will showcase some of the city’s best artists and performers and so we need a culinary offer that meets those same high standards but at a price that’s right for our attendees.”

Midlands based companies who are registered with the National Catering Association can apply now at https://www.ncass.org.uk/. Applications will close at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 23.
