FIFTY YEARS have passed since US civil rights champion Martin Luther King concluded his iconic "I have a dream" speech in Washington on August 28, 1963.

President Barack Obama, along with former presidents, American celebrities across the spectrum, and thousands of people marked the half-century anniversary of a defining moment in world history for every person seeking freedom, equality and justice.
