Will Smith reveals marriage counselling saved relationship

TROUBLED RELATIONSHIP: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

MULTIPLE AWARD-winning actor Will Smith has revealed that he and his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith have used couples therapy to help save their marriage in "dark moments".

"I've done a lot of marriage counselling," the Suicide Squad star, 47, told The Sun.

"What happens in a marriage once you do counselling, the truth comes out," he said, adding that afterwards: "you look at each other and you can't imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out."

That tough honesty "creates a dark moment" between them, the former rapper confessed.

"But for me it's the dark before the dawn. When the truth comes out and people have to say who they are and what they think, you get to know who they are," he added.

Will and Jada have been married for 19 years and are parents to actor Jaden Smith, 18, singer Willow Smith, 15, and Will's son Trey Smith, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
