WILL SMITH is set to perform the official 2018 World Cup song alongside Nicky Jam and Kosovo singer Era Istrefi, according to reports.

The track will be produced by Diplo and is set to be released on Friday May 25.

Smith had a successful music career in the late 80s and 90s and scored nine UK top five hits.

Latin American artist Nicky Jam’s latest single, X, has clocked up almost 800 million streams on YouTube. Istrefi has previously collaborated with rapper French Montana.

The FIFA World Cup starts on June 14 in Russia.

Smith’s latest release, Get Lit, came out last summer. The single did not perform well.

In addition to the official World Cup song, which is usually performed at the opening or closing ceremony, a World Cup “anthem” is also produced.

R Kelly and Wyclef Jean have sung the anthem in the past.

There will be no official World Cup song for the England team this year.

Earlier this month the FA announced that it had not commissioned an official song for the squad.

A spokesman for the FA said: “There is no official World Cup song planned.”

New Order’s World in Motion is one of the most memorable England team World Cup songs. It features former England footballer John Barnes rapping.
