RICH LIST: Will Smith
WILL SMITH is the highest paid black actor in Hollywood, according to the new Forbes Rich List.
The 44-year-old made it to number four on the prestigious list with an annual income of $36 million, falling behind actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Adam Sandler.
Smith returns to the top of the list thanks to the upcoming third movie in the Men in Black franchise, where he'll reprise his role as Agent J. Smith.
He fell off the annual list last year after he took time out to support the budding careers of his children, 13-year-old actor, Jaden and 10-year-old singer, Willow.
Jaden starred in the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid, which Smith produced. The movie grossed an impressive $360 million at the box office. The doting father also lent a helping hand to daughter Willow with the release of her hit song, Whip My Hair.
Smith’s annual earnings, calculated between May 2010 and May 2011, consist of pretax gross income before managers, agents and attorney fees are deducted.
The actor got his big break big acting break in sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and was in 2009 named the ‘most bankable’ star based on the ability to attract financing for a project, box office success, appeal to different audience demographics, among many other factors.
