THE EX-WIFE of Marvin Gaye died in her LA home on Friday (Jan 31), aged 92.
Anna Gordy Gaye, the sister of Motown founder Berry Gordy, died from natural causes at her home, reports TMZ.
In recent years, Anna reportedly suffered from dementia, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. In 2005, she moved away from Marvin's former Hollywood Hills home due to alleged drug use on the part of her adopted son, Marvin Gaye III.
She and Gaye, who was 17 years her junior, met in 1960 divorced in 1977, following a 14-year marriage. Their public separation inspired the recording of Marvin Gaye’s double album Here, My Dear.
Anna influenced Gaye's career, co-writing two hits on his What's Going On album and she inspired his hit song Pride and Joy during their courtship.
They had one child together, Marvin Pentz Gaye III, and divorced in 1977. She never remarried.
