Whoopi to wow UK with two shows

MAKING A VISIT: Veteran star Whoopi Goldberg

WORLD-RENOWNED Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Whoopi Goldberg has announced she will perform two very special shows in the UK later this year.

Whoopi will perform an evening of unique observations on current events and a wide variety of topics that are on her mind, followed by a question and answer session with the audience in the UK.

Goldberg is as well-known for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of children, the homeless, human rights, education, substance abuse and the battle against AIDS, as she is for her acting.

Among her many charitable activities, Goldberg is a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations. Goldberg made her motion picture debut in Steven Spielberg’s film version of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple for which she earned an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award.

Her performance in Ghost earned her the Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and she has starred in such films as Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Clara’s Heart, The Long Walk Home, Soapdish, Sister Act, Made in America, Boys on the Side, Ghosts of Mississippi, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Girl, Interrupted, and such animated classics as The Lion King and Toy Story 3.

She currently moderates ABC’s Emmy Award-winning The View, for which she has won a Daytime Emmy Award.

Goldberg has also made her mark as a producer on television and on Broadway, including with Sister Act, which is currently playing throughout the world.

Among her many awards and honours, Whoopi has received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the Kodak Theatre.

The shows will take place at Leeds First Direct Arena on Saturday October 13 and London Eventim Apollo the following night, with Gina Yashere as the supporting act.
