West Indies under an early cloud

MISSING: Marlon Samuels

THE WEST Indies started their tour of England in disarray with just 11 fit men available after injuries and travel issues left their squad depleted.

With the three Test series against Engalnd due to commence in under a fortnight they are still waiting on the arrival of three players as Assad Fudadin, Narsingh Deonarine and Marlon Samuels were delayed due to visa problems.

Although IPL player, Samuels is likely to arrive in the next few days, batsman Deonarine and 26-year-old Fudadin are stuck in Jamaica trying to deal with the problem.

A Windies spokesperson said: "The rules have become more stringent due to the Olympics and we're still working on getting that sorted."

The Windies' tour match against Sussex eventually got under way but was once again halted by bad weather.

But despite the issues, captain Darren Sammy assured fans: “Come to the first Test, everybody will be ready.”
