UK GRIME have teamed up with mental health charity Risen, to deliver a powerful 2017 UK Grime Cypher.

UK Grime is the main destination for Grime music, news, artists and culture. In 2015, they launched the very popular #UKGrimeCypher which saw thousands of entries across the country including the likes of Shystie, Discarda, Saskilla, Youngs Teflon, One Acen, Gracious K, Dubzy Snazz and Big Tobz, even championship footballer Britt Assombalonga getting involved and uploading a short video clip showing off their rap skills,

In 2015, #UKGrimeCypher was trending and achieved millions of views. Shystie’s entry proved the most popular with over a million views on that alone and her Cypher received praise from Grammy Award winning artist, Estelle.

This year, #UKGrimeCypher is back and they've teamed up with new charity Risen to raise awareness about mental health issues amongst the black community in the UK.

Risen are a charity committed to preventing mental health problems within the black community through promoting social and economic inclusion. Research has proven that good mental health is founded in social inclusion and statistics show that black people in Britain are still more at risk to mental health problems than their white counterparts due in part social, economic and institutional inequalities that remain in Britain today.

UK Grime and Risen are encouraging people to take part in this campaign to raise awareness for mental health issues by using the hashtag #RisenMH and #UKGrimeCypher for the entries whose theme is mental health or their experiences of social exclusion as a black person in Britain.

People will be encouraged via ukgrime.com and risenuk.com websites and campaign material to additionally support this initiative by making a donation on the Risen charity Crowdfunder page.

The #UKGrimeCypher challenge launches on today (Oct 11) and you can support via retweeting on your socials where appropriate.
