Turkish delight for Woods

IN THE MONEY: Tiger Woods

WORLD NO.1 Tiger Woods is set to appear in the £4.6 million Turkish Open, set to take place in November.

The Turkish Open will be one of the four events that will make up the European Tour's inaugural Final Series on the Race to Dubai.

The tournament will be sponsored by Turkish Airlines, who also hosted the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final last year, an event which saw Woods lose in the semi-final to eventual winner Justin Rose.

Woods said: "I had a great time during my first visit to Turkey. Turkish Airlines, the Turkish Golf Federation and the fans who came to watch made it a really special event and I'm looking forward to playing there once again."

Tournament promoter Andrew Chandler of International Sports Management said: "He [Woods] had a pretty good time last year. We almost based the date around which week he could play and this week suited the European Tour and Tiger Woods.

"The other 77 names in the field will not be familiar to Turkish fans, but Tiger Woods is. To have the world number one there, it always makes it special if a European Tour player can win with Tiger in the field."
