Trump meets with Nigerian President Buhari

UNITED FRONT: President Donald Trump and President Muhammadu Buhari

MONTHS AFTER Donald Trump allegedly described African nations as, “shithole countries,” The President of The United States met for a joint press conference with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House.

In the Rose Garden, a reporter asked Mr. Trump when he would be visiting Nigeria and in his response, the President said: “I would like very much to visit Nigeria. It’s an amazing country. There’s no country more beautiful.”

Amid his adoration for the country, a reporter addressed President Buhari. He said: “You’re the first leader from sub Saharan Africa to visit President Trump here at the White House”.

Did you address his reported comments from earlier this year when he reportedly used vulgar language to describe African nations?” he asked.

President Buhari said: “Well I’m very careful with what the press says about other than myself.

I’m not sure about the validity or whether that allegation against the president was true or not. So the best thing for me is to keep quiet,” he continued.

At which point, Donald Trump responded to the question and told the reporter: “We didn’t discuss it and you do have some countries that are in very bad shape and very tough places to live in.

But we didn’t discuss it because the President knows me, and he knows where I’m coming from and I appreciate that.” The comments were made while Buhari was seen to laugh in the background.

In the conference, President Trump also said: “Nigeria’s the largest democracy in Africa, as I conveyed to President Buhari in our discussions, The United States deeply values and appreciates Nigeria’s role as a strong democratic leader in the region.”
