Trio of robbers jailed for total of 20 years

PRISON BOUND: Makunga, left, and Green

THREE MEN have been sent to prison for a cash-in-transit heist.

Daniel Green, 33, Joseph Makungu, 25, and Ashley Dobbs, 26, were found guilty of conspiracy to rob and sentenced at the Old Bailey, central London.

Green was given a seven-year term, Makungu got nine years, and Dobbs received four years.

The investigation that led to their arrests was carried out by the Met’s flying squad.

Its acting detective sergeant Danny Watts said: “These men carried out an audacious robbery in daylight but were caught a short time later following the prompt action of local officers.

SENTENCED: Dobbs

“Investigations by the Flying Squad linked Makungu to other offences of a similar nature. These sentences reflect the seriousness of their offences and have taken three criminals off the streets.”

The robbery took place on October 17, 2012, when a cash-in-transit guard was attacked during a collection and delivery stop in Rose Lane, Mark Gate, Essex.

The two assailants were identified as Makungu and Dobbs, who both fled to a getaway car, a silver Audi that was driven by Green.

All they men were arrested shortly after the robbery due to police using CCTV to track their movements.
