Three arrests in Kelvin Chibueze murder

VICTIM: Kelvin Chibueze

POLICE HAVE arrested three men in connection with the murder of Kelvin Chibueze in Ilford, east London, earlier this month (Aug 15).

A man, aged 30, was arrested on Monday (Aug 22) and was taken to a north London police station. He was later bailed to return on a date in early September pending further enquiries.

The next day (Aug 23) police arrested a 19-year-old and a 30-year-old man. The 30-year-old was released on bail, but the 19-year-old, who had been previously arrested on the night of the murder, remains in custody.

Kelvin was fatally stabbed on August 15 after a disturbance at a private party spilled onto Ilford High Road.

A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and urge anyone with any information on the incident to come forward.

DCI John Macdonald said: "There were people shouting and bottles thrown in what is a busy area even at that time of night."

"My appeal is to members of the public who may have seen what was going on to contact us, and also anyone involved in these two groups to come forward and tell us what happened," he added.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8345 3985; if you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
