THIS WEEKEND'S INET International Pairs Caribbean Tournament promises to be an extremely competitive event as 45 pairs from Anguilla, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago as well as host country, Antigua and Barbuda tee off  at the Cedar Valley Golf Course from September 7-8.

Zorol Barthley of Golf Experience Caribbean, the organisers of the INET International Pairs Caribbean Tournament explains that the players will be playing for some pretty amazing prizes: "Our sponsors continue to put their full support behind the event; with the ultimate prize being the top two pairs from the Caribbean and Antigua and Barbuda qualifying to represent the region at the International Pairs World Finals in Scotland in early October.

"In addition, there will be an array of prizes on both days for the best dressed pair, closet to the pin, longest drive along with a new feature, the Rockstar Challenge! The Hyundai Elantra  is the official car of the tournament and one is available for the first player to get a hole in one on the par three number 11.”

He added: “We have to thank all our corporate partners for their continued support especially in these challenging economic times. Their support shows that they are confident in our tournament and this bodes well for future tournaments”

Another exciting feature of this year’s event will be live radio and television coverage provided by media partners ABS and the Observer Group: “We are really excited that golf and sports fans will have an opportunity to either watch the first morning’s tee offs live during a special broadcast by Good Morning Antigua and Barbuda, as well as listen to live interviews and commentary. On day two we will have live updates during the Veron Edwards Sports Saturday afternoon show. We have to say a special thank you along with all the other media houses for being so willing to partner with us.”

The event also enjoys full support from the Ministry of Sports and the Cedar Valley Golf Club; and is endorsed by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.
