Sugababes set to reunite?

REUNITED: Sugababes set reunite this year

THE FOUNDING members of UK girlband The Sugababes are set to reunite, singer Emeli Sandé confirmed this week.

The Heaven singer, revealed that she had been writing for the original trio, comprised of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy, who recorded just one album together in 2001.

In an interview with MTV Emeli said: "Yes, that is true. I’ve written for the original line-up of the Sugababes, which I’m very happy about because I just loved them when they first came out."

"I loved their sound, it was so cool. It was very different, so I’m happy to kind of be involved in what started the whole Sugababes journey. It sounds amazing," she added.

The news comes after both Keisha and Mutya, who formed the group in 1998, tweeted that they were in the studio with UK rapper, Professor Green, on January 5.

It is believed that current members, Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen will continue using the Sugababes name and will release an album later this year.

No statement from the current members of the Sugababes has been made.
