Six men arrested after quadruple stabbing in Camberwell

QUADRUPLE STABBING: Police officers guard the crime scene in Camberwell

SIX MEN have been arrested in connection with a quadruple stabbing in Camberwell yesterday.

The attack, which took place around 5.30pm on Thursday (August 16), left four males, all believed to be in their teens, with stab wounds. Each of the victims were transported to hospital and one was said to be in a critical condition.

The stabbings took place outside Lando House, a short distance away from the location where drill rapper Sidique Kamara, 23, was fatally stabbed on August 1.

Superintendent Annmarie Cowley, of Southwark police, described the stabbings as “an example of the utter senselessness of knife crime”.

Cowley appealed for witness and those with any information about what happened to come forward and speak to the police.

She said: “I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident to call police and tell us what you saw; if you are concerned or worried about speaking to police, I can assure you your information would be treated in the strictest of confidence.

“If you are not a person who would speak to police but you know something, I would ask you to think of the families of those involved who tonight have a loved one in hospital. Please do the right thing and speak to us. Those responsible for this should not go unpunished.”

Labour MP for Camberwell and Peckham Harriet Harman said she was liaising with the police and local councillors in relation to the incident.

Cllr Kieron Williams said it was “deeply upsetting to hear residents’ accounts of violence between young men in Camberwell”.

The victims have not yet been formally named.

Witnesses or anyone with information can call the police on 101 quoting CAD 5391/16 Aug. They can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
