ROW: Shaunie and Shaquille O'Neal in happier times

SHAQUILLE O’NEAL has successfully blocked his ex-wife's application for an emergency order which would have allowed their children to be filmed for a new reality show.

The 41-year-old retired NBA star has joint custody of his four children - Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir and Me'arah - with ex-wife, Shaunie O’Neal.

He sought legal action after it emerged that the 39-year-old had signed a deal to star in a new VH1 reality show, which would also feature their kids.

She was seeking an emergency order to meet production deadlines as filming was scheduled to start the first week of January.

The mum-of-five, who has a child from a previous relationship, hoped a judge would rule in her favour without a hearing, but O'Neal strongly opposed it.

His lawyer Laura Wasser, who represented Kim Kardashian in her divorce proceedings, convinced the judge there was no rush and a hearing would be fair, according to an article on TMZ.

An LA judge ruled in the sportsman’s favour yesterday (December 19) and a hearing will be held in late January to consider Shaunie's bid for the reality show.

Shaunie, in court documents said she had a deal for a new VH1 reality show The Shaunie Project about life with her and her children.

Sources told TMZ that Shaunie has tried to convince Shaquille that the show would be wholesome family fun, but he fears the cameras would damage his children and their schooling.

The 7ft 1in former basketball player married Shaunie in 2002. The ex-wife already has reality show experience as an executive producer on popular show, Basketball Wives.

O’Neal is currently an analyst on TNT's Inside the NBA.
