Serena Williams' husband hits out at double standards

DOUBLE STANDARDS: Alexis Ohanian, pictured with his wife tennis grand slam champion, Serena Williams

ALEXIS OHANIAN has hit out at the double standards that saw his wife Serena Williams maligned for her outburst at the US Open final and Brett Kavanaugh deemed fit to be appointed to the highest court in the US despite his.

During the senate hearing that saw Kavanaugh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford answer questions posed by senior democrat and republican senators, the 53-year-old was repeatedly aggressive with the delivery of his answers.

In the wake of the accusations and his conduct during the hearing, Kavanaugh was appointed to the US supreme court. The role, which is one of the most powerful political positions in the country, is for life.

On Saturday, Kavanaugh’s appointment to the supreme court was confirmed by a vote of 50-48 in his favour.

During this year’s US Open final, Williams was given a penalty for verbal abuse after she shouted at umpire Carlos Ramos and called him a thief after he penalised her for taking coaching, something that she maintains she did not do.

Deborah Barros, a democratic candidate for Alabama State Senate, tweeted: “Funny how a black female tennis player is held to a higher standard to keep her emotions in check than a supreme court nominee.”

Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit, replied to Barros’ tweet and said: “It’s not funny, it’s bull****

“Beta Brett Played the “father card” and cried and screamed and insulted everyone’s intelligence with lies about the definitions of phrases anyone with Google could debunk And argued hysterically with sitting senators, even going so far as to threaten them.”

In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Kavanaugh briefly addressed his conduct, he said: “I was very emotional last Thursday, more so than I have ever been. I might have been too emotional at times. I know that my tone was sharp, and I said a few things I should not have said.”
