Schoolboy rapper, 11, wins place at Cameron's old school

NEW HOME: Tyrese will take up his place in 2017

AN 11-YEAR-OLD schoolboy has won a scholarship to attend Eton after wowing masters with his all-round ability - including his rapping skills.

Tyrese George, a student at Byker Primary School in Newcastle, said has wanted to attend the prestigious £36,000-a-year institution near Windsor, Berkshire – where past pupils include the Duke of Cambridge and David Cameron -ever since watching a programme about it on CBBC a year ago.

The youngster beat thousands of other hopefuls after acing a series of exams and interviews at Eton in May.

“He went to Eton at the end of May to sit lots of exams and interviews,” Linda Bradley, headteacher at Byker Primary School.

“He’s a rapper so he did some of that too,” she added.

The bright Year Six pupil, who lives on a council estate in Byker, Newcastle, with mother Tammy, 38, and brother Leo, 7, sent off for a brochure himself, according to Bradley and will take up a place at Eton in 2017 when he will have to pass an exam to finaliise his place.

Ms Bate said she would “miss him like crazy” when he leaves to attend the boarding school.

“He’s my little man, but I know what he wants. I am very proud of him,” she said.

Tyrese said his acceptance by Eton is a dream come true - although he admitted he now must keep up his grades and ‘not be naughty’.

“Windsor will be different from Byker, but I am sure I will be able to fit in,” he said.

“I will miss Byker a lot, and I will miss my mum and my brother,” he added.
