Record deal for girl dubbed 'Kenya’s Alicia Keys'

KENYA'S KEYS: A young girl's rendition of Girl on Fire has landed her a record deal

A 13-YEAR-OLD girl whose rendition of Alicia Keys’ song Girl on Fire went viral has been signed by a Kenyan record label.

Gracious Amani impressed viewers of the clip with her vocal range, causing the footage to be shared around the world.

Amani will join Kenya’s Pine Creek record label and will adopt the name Amani G.

A spokesperson for Pine Creek said: “We have had a number of studio sessions with Amani G and can confirm that she will grow into a force to reckon with in music! We wish her the best of luck!

“Her talent has finally found a home where it will be nurtured to levels unimagined!

“Ladies and Gents... join us in welcoming Amani G to our Record Label!”

Amani’s cover garnered her fans around the world – including none other than the song’s original artist, Alicia Keys.

Keys shared a video of the young girl singing on her Instagram back in June with the caption: “Look at this beautiful soul!! Shine!!!” On her page alone the clip generated more than 1 million views.

Amani has already spent time in the studio with local Kenyan musicians who were captivated by her talent. Fans will have to stay tuned to see if a collaboration with Keys is on the cards.
