ALL WEATHER: Prescod keeps his eye on victory

STUNNING A world class field at the recent Diamond League event in Shanghai Reece Prescod said the damp and rainy conditions helped to motivate him onto the win.

Running a superb race out in lane eight, Prescod nicked the victory in the 100m from home grown star Su Bingtian in a time of 10.04s.

“When I saw the rain tonight I thought, ‘yes’, I train in these conditions all the time in the East Midlands. It suits me,” said Prescod after he race.

He added: “My expectations going in were I knew I had it in me (to win) as long as I executed my race. It is definitely the happiest moment in my time on the Diamond League circuit.

“I don’t know what will happen next (in terms of his next competition), I will need to speak to my agent.

“I have great respect for Su, I’ve raced him before and he’s a top competitor. I’ve really enjoyed racing in Shanghai and I’ll be back again next year.”
