Raheem Sterling grateful for faith of Brendan Rodgers

HOT FORM: Sterling has been a great success at Liverpool this term (PA)

WIDEMAN RAHEEM Sterling has expressed his gratitude for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers for placing his faith in him and enabling him to excel for the Reds as they close in on their first league title in 24 years.

The 19-year-old Jamaican-born England international has been a revelation since a dip in form during the first half of the campaign which led to rumours that he could depart the club on loan.

However, Sterling has been a game-changer for Liverpool and has played an instrumental role in seeing them top of the table by five points with only three games left to play.

Speaking about his renaissance under Rodgers, Sterling said: “He has had belief in me – he has put me in different positions and had the faith to try me.

“He has had great faith and I am just glad I got a goal [in a 3-2 win over Norwich] for him and a goal for the team.

“I knew I had a lot to give. I just have confidence now and right now it is sky high. We just need to keep building.”
