Prepare to relive the OJ Simpson experience in new museum

OJ MANIA: OJ Simpson

A WEEK after OJ Simpson was granted parole, a Los Angeles gallery announced plans for a Simpson-themed temporary museum that will be showcased next month.

Chinatown’s Coagula Curatorial Gallery will host the OJ Simpson Museum Takeover from August 18-22, which will feature 300 items – many of which date back to Simpson’s murder trial.

The exhibit will feature relics from the 1995 court case - OJ board games, an OJ library, sports memorabilia, interactive elements and a gift shop. A 1994 Ford Bronco - not the original Bronco - will also be on display.

According to LAist, the OJ exhibit will be curated by Adam Papagan, the creator of The OJ Tour.

Papagan told LAist:

“Everyone knows the media version, but the OJ Museum is the vernacular of the people.”

According to USA Today, Coagula Curatorial gallerist Mat Gleason said the exhibit will feature a tribute to Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. He remained confident that the OJ shrine would be considered art.

“It’s totally within the purview of reflecting the times we live in, the culture we live in and the narrative of one person,” Gleason said.
