Police brutality vs black on black crime: Which is worse?

FRUSTRATED: Matt Barnes

FORMER NBA player Matt Barnes has raised the attention of black on black crime as a “bigger issue” than police brutality.

The 38-year-old took the social media on Monday (June 18) to vent his frustrations with the black community.

The Instagram post said: “Y’all know I go hard on cops killing unarmed minorities, mostly blacks…Only because they’re paid to protect & serve, not to play judge jury & executioner! But we all know the bigger problem is we killing each other… Daily!!

”We can point the finger & try to blame whomever but that’s facts!! We need to cherish this life, cause we only get one. Stop doing s**t to fit in, to impress others or sell records.”

In the past, Barnes has been known to speak publicly on police brutality in America. In March, hundreds at a rally joined him in protest over the killing of Stephon Clark, the 22-year-old unarmed black man who was shot and killed by the police.

Towards the end of his message, Barnes deflected his concerns away from the breaking news of artist XXXtentacion, who was shot dead yesterday (June 18) by unidentified shooters in Florida.

He concluded the statement by the message which read: “If we don’t respect ‘ourselves’ what makes you think anyone else will, law enforcement included.”
