Police appeal for witnesses after double murder

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murders of two men in east London are appealing for information to help bring those responsible to justice.

Aaron Carriere, 21, and Josiah Manful, 20, were found suffering from stab wounds in a vehicle on Montague Road in Leytonstone during the early hours of Saturday (Mar 1) morning.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service before 1am to reports of the injured men, who were later pronounced dead at the scene.

Post-mortems established that Carriere died from stab wounds to the neck, while Manful died because stab wounds to the chest.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the double murder.

Detective chief inspector Neil Attewell said: “The Homicide and Major Crime Command are still trying to piece together the events of the previous evening into the early hours of the March 1. We are in the early stages of this investigation and retain an open mind as to the motive of this ferocious attack.

“Aaron and Josiah were in a black Fiesta in Montague Road and both were stabbed several times as they sat in the vehicle. The London Ambulance Service made a significant effort to save their lives but unfortunately both later died at the scene.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the event or has any information about the murders to come forward and assist us with our investigation. It is of paramount importance that we establish why these two young men were attacked and who is responsible for their deaths.”
