Plucky Rwandan needs your help to fund her dream

FUNDING PLEA: Zeni Sekabnja

ZENI SEKABNJA is a woman on a mission. She has recently been selected for a two-year acting course at a top drama school but now faces an uphill task to raise the money she needs to fulfil her dream.

The aspiring actor needs to raise a deposit of £3000 towards her tuition fees before she can begin her course.

Undaunted by the task however, Rwanda-born Sekabnja has taken to the Internet to ask kind-hearted donors to help her find the money to fund her course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

She is developing a website in a bid to attract the help of supporters who could help her realise her dream.

“The only thing that stands in my way is the £3,000 deposit,” said the Peckham, south east London resident. “Without this, my place will be given away.”

Sekabnja’s start in life was not as positive as her recent good news. She believes her selection for the prestigious LAMDA proves that no matter what difficulties in life someone faces, progress can be made with talent and hard work.
refuge

“I was born in Rwanda. However, when I was 10-years-old a civil war broke out, forcing me and my family to seek refuge in England. So, from the age of 10, I have lived in Peckham. In Peckham, things were not going so well. My mother had fallen ill with breast cancer and sadly passed away. As a result things at home got worse as I became withdrawn and unfocused; life at school and at home became worse."

ESCAPISM

However, as a child drama was always a great form of escapism, steering me away from the distractions of the tough life at home and in Peckham. All I ask now is for support to help me complete one of my dreams.”
