Pharrell Williams laughs off big hat jibes

HAT MAN: Williams sports his headgear while performing with Daft Punk at the Grammy's (PA)

FRESH FROM his Grammy win, Pharrell Williams has taken to Twitter to laugh off the social media frenzy that his rather large Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat caused at the awards ceremony on Sunday (Jan 26).

The 40-year-old producer and performer went against the glamorous dress code of the Grammys and strutted down the red carpet in jeans, an Adidas jacket, and headgear, accompanied by his wife Helen Lasichanh.

Shortly after this appearance, an account was set up titled Pharrell Hat.

The first message said a simple "hey", before other tweets followed including: "Must have hats to get lucky", and "robot helmets are so 2013."

During the show, US fast food chain Arby's jokingly tweeted that the hat should be their new logo.

"Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back", the company said.

The next day, Williams laughed it off and replied: "Y'all tryna start a roast beef?"

He then began posting various illustrations, before sharing a caricature tweeted by a fan and another of himself running alongside the Toy Story character Woody.
