Obama’s send Christmas wishes

SEASONS GREETINGS: Barack and Michelle Obama

IN THEIR final annual Christmas address Barack and Michelle Obama wished everyone a festive season and gave particular attention to the American armed forces many of which are away from their families and friends while they are deployed overseas.

“Celebrating the holidays in the White House over these past eight years has been a true privilege,” said Michelle.

She added: “We’ve been able to welcome over half a million guests, our outstanding pastry chefs have baked 200,000 holiday cookies and Barack has treated the American people to countless bad jokes.”

Brushing aside her husbands light hearted protestations about the standard of his humour the First Lady continued: “As always, many of our troops are far from home this time of year and their families are serving and sacrificing right along with them.

“Their courage and dedication allow the rest of us to enjoy the season, that’s why we try to serve them as well as they serve this country.”

Concluding the address and imploring the world to recommit themselves ‘to the values that we share’, Barack said: “On behalf of all of the Obama’s, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, Bo and that trouble maker Sunny, merry Christmas everybody.”
