Missing prisoner arrested in east London

ARRESTED: Jerry Monerville

A MAN jailed for robbery who failed to return to prison after being granted leave has been arrested in east London.

Jerry Monerville, 49, is serving an eight-year sentence at HMP Hollesley Bay in Suffolk and was given leave on April 11 to visit London.

However he did not return to the open prison when expected on April 15.

Suffolk police and crime commissioner Tim Passmore was critical of the force’s decision to wait 20 hours before informing the public that Monerville had gone missing.

The Met arrested him in Tower Hamlets yesterday (Apr 22).
