BIG CHOP: Thomas Moore, 10, from Maryland
AN INSPIRING 10-year-old boy in the US is being praised for a hair-raising act of kindness that has gone viral online.
Thomas Moore, from Maryland, noticed his mother watching a video about a five-year-old girl who had lost her hair during chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Moved by the effects of the treatment, Moore decided on the spot that he wanted to help by growing out his mane and donating it to those in need.
SHORT AND SWEET: The youngster grew his hair for two years before cutting it
“My heart melted,” Angie Pulos, Moore’s mum, told The Huffington Post of the moment he announced his decision. “He’s so stinkin’ sweet.”
Two years on, Moore finally had his hair cut, providing enough hair to make three wigs for children with cancer.
His aunt shared their inspiring story in social media earlier this month.
Along with a before and after photo, she tweeted: "My nephew grew his hair out for two years to donate to kids with cancer."
The precious photos of him before and after his dramatic cut have gone viral, receiving more than 121,000 likes and 61,000 retweets on Twitter.
Moore ended up donating his hair to Reniece & Company, a salon in Rockville, Maryland that specialises in wigs.
