Man jailed for raping woman in her own home

A MAN who raped a woman in her own home in east London has been imprisoned for eight and a half years.

Mustafa Osman, 36, of north London, was sentenced last week (Oct 24) at Snaresbrook Crown Court after he was found guilty at the same court where he had pleaded not guilty.

The rape took place on November 11, 2013, just before midnight at the victim’s home where Osman arrived uninvited.

She was assaulted by him before he subjected her to four hours of sexual abuse. The 23-year-old victim was told by Osman that he would “ruin her life” if she informed anyone about the attack, the court heard during the trial.

Following the ordeal, the victim told Osman she needed to leave for work and when she arrived at her workplace she told colleagues about the attack and police were called.

Ten days later, Osman was arrested and was charged the next day with two counts of rape and one count of digital penetration.

Speaking after the sentencing, detective constable Richard Wren said: “This young woman was subjected to a torturous ordeal that spanned four hours and put her in fear for her life.

“She was then compelled to give evidence in court by Osman entering a not guilty plea. I hope that the sentence handed down provides her with a measure of comfort and goes someway to restoring her sense of personal safety.”
