Lewisham death: Police appeal

KILLED: Thierry Christian-Gnanakumar

POLICE HAVE appealed for information and witnesses following the death of a 22-year-old man on a busy south London street.

Officers believe that Thierry Christian-Gnanakumar was set upon by a group of males outside Lewisham library on Saturday (Nov 10). at around 9.20pm.

During the attack, Thierry received severe blunt force trauma to the head and face.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering serious injuries. He died in the early hours of Sunday November 11.

An inquest will open tomorrow (Nov 15) at Southwark Coroner's Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC)
 said:

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the Lewisham High Street area around the time of the incident to contact my team. At this early stage we believe the victim was attacked by a group of males outside Lewisham Library.

“If you witnessed this assault, or the events leading up to or immediately after the assault, please call the incident room."

Three men have been arrested in connection with this incident and were bailed to a date in November.
