A-level Glory for star pupils

WELL DONE MY SON: Glory Mbala.

AMONG THE many thousands of students celebrating A level success today is a young man with the appropriate name of Glory Mbala.

Glory, a student at Christ the King College in Lewisham, south London, is over the moon with his three grade A passes in maths, physics and product design.

The happy youngster plans to study electromechanical engineering at Birmingham’s Aston University.

Explained Glory: “I like electronic and electrical engineering so I chose to do a combined course. There are only two universities that do that course and I was familiar with Birmingham, so I decided to go there.

“I want to thank everyone who has given me an opportunity to be here today or supported me in any form. I had a good time at Christ the King.”

Among some of the other students at Christ the King College gaining three grade A passes are Taiwo Gbadamosi and Oluwabukola Gbolahan who both plan to go to Warwick University to study law and economics.

Eleanor Law, another star pupil gaining A grades at A-level is going to Oxford to study geography. Fellow student Charles Olisanekwu will be going to Oxford to study law.

Dr Jane Overbury OBE, Principal of Christ the King College, said: “I am very pleased with the outcomes our students have achieved. The hard work that students and staff have undertaken throughout the year has helped to ensure that young people from Christ the King will progress on to some of the leading institutions in the country. I am very proud of our students and wish them every success as they move on to study their chosen subjects, including law, medicine, engineering and architecture.”
