Legend backs Tiger Woods to bounce back

A WORD IN YOUR EAR TIGER: Woods (left) with Jack Nicklaus

THE GREATEST golfer of all time has backed Tiger Woods to get back to his all-conquering best. Jack Nicklaus still feels Tiger Woods can overhaul his record of 18 major Championships despite his fellow American slumping to 46th in the current world rankings.

"Tiger has a great work ethic, he's a great competitor, the most talented kid on the planet right now," said Nicklaus.
Nicklaus is of the opinion that Woods’ present challenges are all in the mind when he said: "if he gets the five inches between his ears squared out."

In 2010 Woods’ controversial marriage split and subsequent break from the sport was followed by an injury-hit 2011 season.

The fading American golfer has just two top 10 finishes in eight starts this year, hence his slide down the world.
Woods won the last of his 14 majors at the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines and hasn't won anywhere since November 2009.

Nicklaus added: "I mean he's Tiger Woods, he's the best player in the game. He may not be playing his best today, but he's still Tiger Woods. He's not going to go away."
