FASHION WEEK DEBUT: Lady Leshurr's Queen's Speech 3 was the soundtrack to Alexander Wang's Fashion Week show
UK RAPPER Lady Leshurr has a new fan in high fashion designer Alexander Wang who used her popular single Queen’s Speech 3 as the soundtrack to his catwalk show at this year’s New York Fashion Week.
Soon after the lights went up on the runway, out from the speakers rumbled the voracious lyrics of the Birmingham-born rapper, real name Melesha O’Garro.
“The 26-year-old British rapper possesses a streetwise personal style to match the collection, and her hit single Queen’s Speech 3 was a fitting soundtrack to the clothes,” fashion magazine Vogue wrote.
“While not an American household name just yet, Leshurr has been a favourite around the Vogue offices for weeks now, and we reckon, is destined for music and fashion stardom too,” they added.
The inclusion in Wang’s show started the rapper’s week with a bang. On Monday (Sept 13), Queen’s Speech 4, her most recent instalment to the hit freestyle series made it to the top of the MTV Base charts.
“Look who’s number I on MTV Base,” Leshurr wrote. “Girls run tings.”
And late last night (Sept 14), the rapper, who is currently in Miami recording with a “legend”, announced she would be headlining a show in New York.
“I will be having my own show in New York at the Gramercy Theatre December 12th! Tickets go online tomorrow afternoon,” she told her “shurrporters” on the social media site.
