Jamaica well placed to land 400m hurdles gold

SPEED: Kaliese Spencer achieved a season's best in her 400m hurdles heat

KALIESE SPENCER ran an impressive season’s best of 54.02, to qualify for the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles against a group of tough competitors.

She came second in her race as did compatriots Nickiesha Wilson and Melanie Walker who ran 55.53 and 54.78, respectively.

Two Americans made the next round as T’Erea Brown grabbed a personal best with 54.72, while Lashinda Demus won her heat in 54.60.

Nigerian Muizat Ajoke Odumosu also qualified as one of the fastest losers after finishing the race in 54.60.
