'I am a thief'

PUNISHMENT: Mum makes daughter wear 'I am a thief' t-shirt - Danaka Walker punished Aaroneisha Celestin [PICTURED] for shoplighting

A MOTHER forced her child to wear an embarrassing T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan 'I am a thief' after she found out she had been stealing.

Mother-of-four, Danaka Walker, customised the controversial top for her youngest child, Aaroneisha Celestin, to read: "Hide your money. Hide your clothes. Hide everything. ‘Cuz I’m A Thief [sic].”

Walker claims she had to pick up Aaroneisha at the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Detention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, because the schoolgirl had shoplifted a $10 shirt from a local shopping mall.

During a TV interview she reportedly said: “I feel like if you’re going to embarrass me by stealing, I’m gonna show you what it’s like to be embarrassed. Everybody’s gonna know that you stole."

She continued: “I work too hard for her to steal, and I’m not gonna have no thief living with me. I refuse to have a thief living with me.”

“Even though it’s her first offense, I want to make sure it’s her last. I don’t want to ever go back and have to go pick up my child from jail," she added.

Surprisingly, Aaroneisha is not bitter about the punishment, she said: “Sorry. Sorry for my mama and everybody else I hurt.”
