BOOST: Kanye West's album has helped music fans discover Burna Boy

BURNA BOY is thanking Kanye West for a 200% increase in streams of his music.

The Nigerian musician’s song Ye, which shares its name with West’s latest album, has seen a surge in streams since the rapper’s eighth studio album was released last Friday.

Burna Boy’s Ye is a track off of his mixtape Outside released earlier this year.

In a tweet Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, said: “Thank YE!! Numbers up 200%.”

The 40-year-old rapper’s fans have shared their experiences of stumbling across Burna Boy while searching for West’s latest body of work, which takes it title from his nickname.

One described Burna Boy’s album as “flames” after deciding to listen to it in jest.

Another said: “Thank you Kanye West for hooking us up with Burna Boy.”

Burna Boy’s fans have expressed their hopes for the artist to benefit from the mixup.

One said: “Kanye West's Ye album is about to take Burna Boy's YE anthem worldwide. If you know, you know.”

Another wrote on Twitter: “It’s amazing how Burna Boy is now getting crazy International recognition ‘cause people have been searching for Kanye’s Ye, then stumbled on his. And now they love his music.

"That’s what happens when you make wonderful music that everyone can appreciate.”
