How gospel artist admitted he was gay

NEW DIRECTION: The former gospel star says his new music will still have a spiritual core

FORMER GOSPEL artist Tonex, now known as B Slade, has a new album called Diesal.

He has also been sharing how coming out as a gay man has had an impact on his life and music.

When B Slade was known as Tonex, he had a successful recording career on Verity Records, and was seen as one of gospel’s most talented and cutting edge artists.

However, he shocked his fans and the gospel music industry when he openly admitted that he was gay in 2009.

Following his revelation, he underwent a total transformation of his image and the music he makes.

B Slade told that although his career as a gospel artist is now in the past there will still be a spiritual core to his music. When asked to share how B Slade differs from Tonex he replied, “B Slade is a recording activist.

Tonex was more of just a recording artist. This brand represents the essence of the Black Sheep, the person who pretty much has all the odds against him, that phoenix rising aura about them.”

Since coming out B Slade has admitted he has experienced more freedom, and hasn’t ruled out marrying as a gay man. He was married to a woman when he was Tonex.

He said “I wouldn’t say it’s not an option. I think that love is for everyone.”
