DETAINED BY POLICE: Hollywood actor Michael Jace
HOLLYWOOD ACTOR Michael Jace has been detained by police after his wife April was fatally shot at their family home.
Jace, 48, was taken in for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department following the death in the Hyde Park neighbourhood on Monday night (May 19).
The career actor, who has had roles in high profile films like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Forest Gumpand State of Play, rose to fame portraying a police officer, detective Julien Lowe, struggling with his sexuality on FX cop drama The Shield.
He went on to star in television drama Southland and has made appearances in Burn Notice and The Mentalist.
A post on April’s Facebook page, from June last year, says “Happy 10 yr anniversary to us!” and has a picture of the couple happily smiling for the camera.
Reports have confirmed there were children in the house at the time of the shooting of the 40-year-old mother-of-three.
According to TMZ, Jace called police himself to report the shooting.
Law enforcement sources say he called 911 around 8:30pm and told police, "I shot my wife."
Neighbours also reported hearing shots fired.
Sources say the actor stayed on the phone, as instructed, until LAPD arrived and found April dead.
