Hamilton cast react to royal visit

GALA PERFORMANCE: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex with members of the Hamilton cast

THE CAST of the hit musical Hamilton have shared their reactions to meeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The royal couple watched the show as part of a special gala performance in aid of the charity Prince Harry co-founded, Sentebale.

Actress Rachel John, who plays Angelica Schuyler in the production, which is an American musical about the life of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, said: “Last night was epic.”

Tarinn Callender, who is making his West End debut in the musical, tweeted a picture of himself and his cast members meeting the royals. In the photo he is open-mouthed, clearly expressing his excitement at having met the duo.

He captioned it with the words: “When you remain composed, act natural and stay cool after meeting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle…”

Christine Allado, another member of the cast, said: “Oh my heart. How special this truly was. The most beautiful people doing wonderful things for those most in need.”

The night raised money for the charity’s work with children and young people affected by HIV.

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda sat next to Prince Harry and Meghan during the performance.

After the show, Prince Harry teased the audience with an extremely brief musical interlude. He sang the opening words of one of the songs from the musical, You’ll Be Back.

Prince Harry described the show as “absolutely incredible”, while Meghan said: “It was so engaging, every moment of it.”
