DIVERSE: Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 campaign
WHILE THE modelling industry continues to struggle with embracing diversity, one brand which has decided to challenge that is Gucci.
The Italian fashion brand revealed their new fashion campaign this week, much to the surprise of many due to its all black cast.
The vibrant and carefree pre-fall 2017 campaign is called “Soul Scene,” and was inspired by England’s underground Northern Soul movement of the 1960s. The ad features models Nicole Atieno, Elibeidy, Bakay Diaby and Keiron Berton Caynes accompanied by 25 dancers.
The ads were shot by photographer Glen Luchford and styled by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele. Set in the dancehalls of the Mildmay Club in London, the campaign highlights "the unconventional freedom and self-expression of young people through performance, art and dance", according to Gucci’s Instagram post.
