THE VOICE of Sport can reveal that next year’s Royal Ascot meeting will double up as part of Jamaica’s 50th independence celebrations.
The meeting’s world famous Ladies Day on June 21 will play host to a plethora of Jamaican and Caribbean dignitaries who will be housed in the Jamaica Trackside Club Lounge on the Thursday of the Royal meeting.
Additionally, a number of high profile Jamaicans, friends of Jamaica and other celebrities are expected to be in attendance.
Details of next year’s mouthwatering event will be revealed at a media launch at the Berkshire racecourse on December 17 during its Christmas Meeting.
Marcia Bulgin-Samuels of MarMar Associates, who are organising the event, said:
“The Caribbean community have played an important part in the development of the horseracing industry.
“Ascot have been amazing and are excited about this ground breaking project.”
