SHAVE: Yvonne Sinclair will lose her hair in a bid to raise money for 9-year-old Nathan Francis
GOSPEL SINGER and radio host Yvonne Sinclair has shaved off her hair to help raise £20,000 to fund medical treatment for nine-year-old Nathan Francis, who suffers from low grade Giloma, which means he has benign tumours on the neck and spine.
Yvonne, who is spearheading this innovative fundraising campaign, decided to shave off her hair live on air whilst presenting her radio show on Jamrockradio, along with Allyson Thomas Wilson, to increase awareness of the fundraising campaign.
She said she was doing it because she believes that love is an action.
“If I had a good friend, would it not be good for me to do what I could in the name of love, even if it means laying down my life?” she said.
In this case however, it meant Yvonne cutting off her hair.
The fundraising campaign which started in November, has now reached £17,464.85, and, in a surprising development, an NHS charity has stated they will pay for Nathan’s treatment. As a result of this, Nathan’s parents plan to donate the money raised to four charities that have made a difference to Nathan’s life.
