VOLNEY MORGAN and New-Ye were the recipients of the 2017 MOBO Award for best gospel act.

Choir founder and director Morgan collected the award at the Pre-MOBO Awards event held at Boisdales in Canary Wharf, east London.

Volney mentioned his win on Facebook and gave a shout out to his fans, saying: “Thank you all for your love, prayers and support. It means so much to me and @vmandnewye. To everybody that has played a role in VM and- New-Ye, thank you so much. I love you all.”

Meanwhile, Christian singer Zion, based in Manchester and a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has released his debut single, Amen.

Zion, who battled with anxiety and depression while studying at university, has said that recording and releasing the single has acted as therapy for him.

He said of the song: “Some of my songs are a cry to God to pull me out of the depressed space I was in and from feeling like I wasn’t in a good place with God.”
